Bicycle repair workshop
About the workshop
Ruth and Sam opened Marrowby Cycle Works in April 2019, in a former saddler's shop on Tanner's Row. We service and repair bikes. We sell tubes, tyres, chains, cables, brake pads, lights and locks, and we do not sell bikes.
Who works here
-
Ruth
Mechanic and co-owner
Ruth has worked as a bike mechanic for 15 years, eight of them in a city bike shop before Marrowby. She holds the Cytech Technical Three qualification and builds most of our wheels.
-
Sam
Mechanic and co-owner
Sam has worked on bikes for 9 years, starting as a volunteer at a community bike project. Sam looks after the e-bikes and cargo bikes and keeps the booking diary.
One of us is always at the counter when the workshop is open.
What we work on
We work on road, gravel, hybrid, town, touring, folding, mountain, kids' and cargo bikes, and we build bikes bought online that arrive in a box.
We service e-bikes with Bosch, Shimano Steps and Bafang motors, and we use the makers' diagnostic tools for Bosch and Shimano Steps.
We do not work on e-scooters, on motorbikes, or on home-built e-bike conversion kits.
After the work
If an adjustment we made slips within 30 days, bring the bike back and we put it right free.
Parts carry their maker's warranty, and we handle the claim for any part we fitted.
